CARROLL COUNTY SR 436State Route 436 between State Route 77 (US 70A) (Reedy Creek Rd.) and State Route 76 (S. Highland Dr.) is OPEN to thru traffic.
 
CHESTER COUNTY-STATE ROUTE 22 – Bridge repair work on state route 22 over Ditch at log mile 3.70 will cause a reduction in north and southbound lanes. Closures will be handled by a temporary traffic signal. One lane will remain open.
 
DYER COUNTY, STATE ROUTE 211Bridge repair work on State Route 211 at log mile 6.04 will cause a reduction in lanes from two to one lane every day. Northbound lanes for Phase 1 construction are closed and a temporary traffic signal is in place.

CAMPBELL COUNTY, I-75 North near Mile Markers 134 and 136.5: On Thursday night, February 2, 2012, motorists should be alert for a possible temporary lane closure between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning as crews perform cable rail repairs. Motorists should be alert for workers present and use extreme caution through this area.
 
CAMPBELL COUNTY, I-75 South near Mile Marker 155.2: Motorists should be alert for lane shifts through this slide repair project. Motorists should reduce speed and use extreme caution through this area.
 

Emergency Contract Awarded for I-40 Rockslide Cleanup

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) today awarded an emergency contract to remove debris and unstable rock from Interstate 40 West in Cocke County. Currently, the westbound lanes of the interstate are closed at Mile Marker 451.
 
The Department received bids from four different contractors, with Phillips and Jordan, Inc. of Knoxville submitting the lowest bid of $59,350.
 
The contractor is expected to begin work at the site of the rockslide on Thursday afternoon. TDOT anticipates being able to reopen the interstate by Monday, February 6.

Weekly Construction Report for Parts of East and Middle Tennessee for February 2 - 8, 2012

BLEDSOE COUNTY, SR 101 (Lantana Road) bridge repair project over Beaver Dam Creek (LM 6.39): Work on Phase 1 of this project has begun, and traffic has been shifted from the westbound to the eastbound lane.  The bridge has been reduced to one 10’ travel lane, and it is being maintained and controlled by a temporary signal for the safety of the traveling public. Estimated project completion date is September 2012. 

BRADLEY COUNTY, SR-60 (Dalton Pike) road widening from near Gilliland Road to U.S. 64 (SR-311): On Thursday, February 2, the heavily traveled intersection of Dalton Pike and McGrady Drive/Treasury Drive will undergo major reconstruction. This work will take several weeks. Although the intersection will remain open to some traffic during construction, major delays are expected. Temporary lane closures and lane shifts will be implemented as the intersection is lowered to the proposed grade. Trucks will be required to use designated truck routes as McGrady Drive will be closed to truck traffic. Detour signs and message boards will be provided to assist motorists. Estimated project completion date is June 2012.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Both lanes of Interstate 40 West in Cocke County have been closed following an early morning rockslide between Mile Markers 450 and 451.
 
Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) Geotechnical Engineers are continuing to evaluate the slide and are currently developing a plan to stabilize the mountainside. An emergency contract will also be initiated to clean-up debris from this morning’s slide.
 
There is currently no estimate for when I-40 West will reopen.

CARTER COUNTY, US 321 (SR 159) over Elk River at Log Mile 7.23: US 321/State Route 159 is closed to thru traffic and detoured around this bridge replacement project. Motorists should follow signed detour route and adjust travel times accordingly.

  • Thursday January 19 through Wednesday January 25: No closures scheduled.
 
DAVIDSON COUNTY, Repair of 14 Bridges over I-440
  • Thursday January 19 through Wednesday January 25, 9AM-3PM, There will be shoulder closures on I-440 eastbound and westbound for bridge work. 
  • Saturday January 21, 7AM through Sunday January 22, 8AM, The ramp from West End Ave. to I-440 westbound will be closed for ramp repairs. Use Murphy Road for detour.
