NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen took time out Monday to honor Tennessee’s veterans in a ceremony at War Memorial Plaza, paying special tribute to veterans working in state government.

“Today there are 4,115 veterans and spouses of veterans who serve the state of Tennessee,” Bredesen said. “These individuals, for whom public duty is a way of life, continue to serve our state and its people in so many ways. This is a special group of men and women who stand out among an already distinguished body of soldiers. Their continued commitment to public service demonstrates that the volunteer spirit can, truly, last a lifetime.”
