NASHVILLE -- Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions Commissioner Greg Gonzales announced today that the maximum effective formula rate of interest in Tennessee is 7.25 percent per annum.

 NASHVILLE--The Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions has received a number of telephone calls and formal consumer complaints concerning a company named Hampton Bay Financial Services. Hampton Bay alleges that they are located at 5100 Poplar Ave., Suite 500, Memphis, TN 38137. The Department has confirmed Hampton Bay Financial Services is not located at the address being provided to consumers and they are not licensed or a registered lender with this Department.

NASHVILLE--The Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions has received a number of telephone calls and formal consumer complaints concerning a company named Greystone Financial Group. Greystone alleges that they are located at 2100 West End Ave., Nashville, TN 37203. The Department has confirmed Greystone Financial Group is not located at the address being provided to consumers and they are not licensed or a registered lender with this Department.

Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions to Launch Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System

NASHVILLE Commissioner Greg Gonzales announced today that the Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions will “go live” on the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) effective February 1, 2009. NMLS is a system developed through multi-state cooperation and participation under the auspices of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors and the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators.

NASHVILLE – Commissioner Greg Gonzales announced today that the Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions will participate in the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry that was developed by the Conference of State Bank Supervisors and the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators. The target date for Tennessee’s participation is the first quarter of 2009.

NASHVILLE - Governor Phil Bredesen has signed into law SB 4160, which creates new requirements for individuals engaged or seeking to operate in the mortgage industry in Tennessee. The bill was designed to establish educational requirements and a method for criminal background checks on individuals working in the mortgage industry that must be licensed or registered with the Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions.
