NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation is beginning the 2010 Recreational Trails Program grant application cycle with a workshop to help government officials, parks and recreation departments and non-profit organizations understand the grant application process. The department’s Division of Recreation Education Services will host the workshop June 10 at the Fleming Training Center at 2022 Blanton Drive in Murfreesboro. It will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. CDT.

SPARTA, Tenn. – Burgess Falls State Park will offer a series of day camps this summer for young people who will be entering the fourth or fifth grade in the 2009-2010 school year. Both a basic Ranger Camp and an advanced camp will be offered. In addition, several “mini” camp sessions will be held for students entering the first, second and third grade in the upcoming school year.
NASHVILLE – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has announced four Tennessee recipients will receive a total of $2.2 million in grant funding to help communities assess and cleanup sites known as Brownfields, which may be contaminated by hazardous chemicals or pollutants. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation assists communities in the application process, and applications are made directly from the communities to EPA.
