NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennesseans tend to pursue two basic flowering plants in the fall: chrysanthemums, and, for even cooler weather, pansies. Nashville, Tennessee — The Tennessee Department of Safety’s (TDOS) Office of Homeland Security today honored the commitment and sacrifice of 25 Tennessee law enforcement officers and first responders, as well as members from three organizations, at a unique recognition ceremony held at the Old Supreme Court Chambers in the State Capitol.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Department of Revenue’s Special Investigations Section conducted the investigation that led to the indictment and subsequent guilty pleas of Shadi Mahmoud Eltiti to six counts of felony sales tax evasion and one count of felony theft of property. On Sept. 11, 2008, Eltiti, former partner and manager of E-Z Stop Market T. T. located at 5304 Charlotte Avenue in Nashville, pled guilty and paid $97,677.82 in restitution for unpaid sales tax collected from Nov. 1, 2003 through Aug. 31, 2004. He was sentenced to six years probation and granted judicial diversion on the condition that he successfully completes probation. Additionally, civil taxes, penalties and interest will be due the state.
Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s mobile household hazardous waste collection service will be in Montgomery and Wilson Counties on September 20.
Knoxville, Tenn. – As part of the ongoing SmartFIX40 project, the Tennessee Department of Transportation announces today that one additional lane of I-40 eastbound and westbound will be open between Cherry Street, exit 390 and Hall of Fame Drive, exit 389. The new lane configuration will be in place and open to traffic Friday afternoon, September 12, 2008 in time for Saturday’s first University of Tennessee home football game to expedite traffic flow to and from downtown Knoxville and the stadium area.
