Cover Tennessee Launches Faith-Based Initiative

NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen rolled up his sleeve today to demonstrate the importance of Tennesseans receiving their flu vaccination this influenza season. On Monday, Oct. 27, Bredesen was administered his annual flu vaccination by State Health Commissioner Susan Cooper, a registered nurse.
“I get a flu shot every year, and I hope this serves as encouragement for others to get their annual flu vaccine as well,” said Bredesen. “This vaccination, which is easy, simple and virtually painless, protects me from the flu, and it provides protection to my family members, friends and co-workers.”
Governor Bredesen Announces CoverTN Benefit Improvements for Members, Doctor Visits Doubled

“Keeping premiums low while providing access to quality health benefits for our CoverTN enrollees is incredibly important, especially during these tough economic times," Bredesen said. “The hallmark of this program is its affordability and I’m very pleased we’ve been able to maintain that while adding important benefits.”
TennCare Expansion in Home and Community Based Services Approved by Feds

The federal government recently approved an expansion that will allow TennCare to serve 2.300 more people in its Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) program for the elderly and adults with physical disabilities. With the expansion, TennCare will provide these services to 6,000 individuals this year. The funds for the expansion were approved by the General Assembly in the state budget that passed in May.
CoverTN Opens New Eligibility Category in Program Expansion
Released on Fri, Sep 12, 2008 - 11:00 am underNASHVILLE — Governor Phil Bredesen announced today that CoverTN, Tennessee’s health insurance program for small businesses, individuals and the self-employed, will now offer health insurance to Tennesseans who are between jobs. The new eligibility category was proposed by Bredesen earlier this year and passed by the General Assembly in May.
