NASHVILLE - Influenza season is here, and the Department of Health is urging Tennesseans to get vaccinated. Now is the best time to get immunized against the flu in order to be protected from infection throughout the entire flu season.
NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen rolled up his sleeve today to demonstrate the importance of Tennesseans receiving their flu vaccination this influenza season. On Monday, Oct. 27, Bredesen was administered his annual flu vaccination by State Health Commissioner Susan Cooper, a registered nurse.
NASHVILLE – TennCare announced today the approval of a planned expansion of home and community services. The federal government recently approved an expansion that will allow TennCare to serve 2.300 more people in its Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) program for the elderly and adults with physical disabilities. With the expansion, TennCare will provide these services to 6,000 individuals this year. The funds for the expansion were approved by the General Assembly in the state budget that passed in May.
NASHVILLE — Governor Phil Bredesen announced today that CoverTN, Tennessee’s health insurance program for small businesses, individuals and the self-employed, will now offer health insurance to Tennesseans who are between jobs. The new eligibility category was proposed by Bredesen earlier this year and passed by the General Assembly in May.
