NASHVILLE — The Bureau of TennCare announced today that BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST) will take over behavioral health care for enrollees receiving services through TennCare Select. This transition to using a single managed care entity to provide all of the care an enrollee needs, including physical and behavioral health coverage, marks TennCare’s completion of the shift to a fully-integrated service delivery model.

KNOXVILLE – The Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville today released the findings from its study, “The Impact of TennCare: A Survey of Recipients 2009.” The results show TennCare continues to earn high marks from those who receive its services – with enrollees reporting quality ratings that are the highest since the program’s inception in 1994.

Strategic Health Information Exchange Plan

NASHVILLE - TennCare announced today federal officials have approved changes to Tennessee’s long-term care program, which brings the state one step closer to total implementation of the Long Term Care Community Choices Act of 2008. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) approved an amendment to the TennCare waiver that will allow managed care organizations to coordinate all of the care a TennCare member needs, which will now include medical, behavioral and long-term care.  

NASHVILLE – Tennessee continues its efforts to ensure the health of state residents during the flu pandemic. Late last week, state officials from the Departments of Health, Education and Homeland Security participated in the 2009 Flu Summit organized by the United States government, where federal planning and response efforts were discussed.

NASHVILLE – Surescripts, the nation’s largest electronic prescribing network, will present Governor Phil Bredesen with a Safe-Rx Award today as Tennessee joins Illinois, Kansas, Missouri and Vermont as one of the top five most improved electronic prescribing states for 2008.

NASHVILLE-As the cost of health insurance rises, the number of people looking to make a profit by selling fraudulent health insurance is also on the rise. The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance (TDCI) stresses that a product that seems too good to be true is too good to be true.

NASHVILLE – With the new year, members of CoverTN now have access to expanded health benefits with no premium increase from the 2008 rates. In addition, applicants to the program for the state’s working uninsured can now earn up to $55,000 per year, an increase from last year’s $43,000 limit.
