ECD To Host Small Cities Program Meeting

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development will hold a public meeting for all Tennessee counties Tuesday, September 23 in Nashville to hear recommendations of citizens and elected officials on objectives and priorities for the 2009 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant program.

The meeting will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Tennessee Tower Multi-Media Room, third floor. The Tennessee Tower is located at 312 Rosa L. Parks Avenue.

The objective of the public meeting is to determine how CDBG funds will be administered by the state in the fiscal year 2009 program year. The hearing is part of a public participation process requested by Governor Phil Bredesen to ensure input of elected officials and interested citizens.

The Small Cities Program, for cities with a population of fewer than 50,000, is administered by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (ECD). Allocation of CDBG funds is based on priorities set at local levels where community needs are best known. Applications for funding for the new program year will be accepted by ECD until February 25, 2009
