Cabinet to create comprehensive strategy focused on Tennessee children’s well-being
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and First Lady Crissy Haslam today announced the governor will issue an executive order refocusing and restructuring the Governor’s Children’s Cabinet, which they will co-chair.
This makes the Governor’s Children’s Cabinet the only one in the country co-chaired by both a governor and the spouse, according to the National Forum for Youth Investment, and the group through collaboration and cooperation will create a comprehensive strategy focused on issues such as children’s physical and mental health, education, safety and overall well-being.

Medical Device Manufacturer to Invest $4.8 Million, Create 40 New Jobs Over Five Years
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty today joined with officials from Shelby County to announce the decision by Launch Medical to expand in Bartlett, Tenn. The company will invest $4.8 million to fit out an existing building on Wolf Lake Road in Bartlett, creating 40 jobs during a five-year period to manufacture medical device prototypes.
Coils Manufacturing Company to Relocate Facility and Create 26 New Jobs in Brownsville
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty and Haywood County officials today joined with representatives from Precision Coils to announce plans by the company to expand and relocate its existing Somerville, Tenn. facility to Brownsville, Tenn. Increasing demand for the Precision Coils product line has made the move to a larger facility with expansion capability necessary. The expansion represents an investment of $3.7 million and the creation of 26 new jobs.
Designation sought for four more counties
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam announced today U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack has designated 14 counties natural disasters for agriculture as a result of drought and excessive heat in 2011.
Multi-year action plan resulting from collaboration of 11 state agencies
NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam today announced a comprehensive, multi-year action plan designed to improve public safety statewide.
The Governor’s Public Safety Subcabinet Working Group, which includes commissioners and representatives from 11 state agencies, submitted the plan after months of meetings with more than 300 public safety professionals and stakeholders across the state.
